Work Experience

This week we had our first work experience. We had a talk on the tuesday before with our guidance councellor and year head,  to inform us on what was to come. For my work experience i went to BASE entertainment centre in Celbridge. My day started at 10 am and i finished at 4pm. I was very nervous on the day

When i first arrived i met with a women called Jacky, she is the boss. She showed me around and gave me the uniform. I was then introduced to Alison, she was going to be my work experience supervisor. I spent the day doing many different jobs such as cleaning, working in the café, answering the phone and supervising the children in the play area.

It was a very long and tiring day and i was releaved when it was over, although I enjoyed the day and look forward to next week.

C A R L I N G F O R D !

On Monday 15th September our whole TY group went to Carlingford in Co. Louth. I had been waiting fro this trip since the start of the year so i was very excited! We left celbridge bright and early at 7 am, and after about a 2 hour drive we finally arrived.

We were first introduced to our instructors and told all about the Carlingford centre. We were then assigned to our rooms. Me and my friends got a room for 12, which was lots of fun at night!

The first activity we did was kayaking. The water was freezing at first but after a while we were used to it. My least favourite part was definitely the wetsuits. The second activity that day was a challenge course. This consisted of riddles and games to bond us better as a group. I didnt really like this activity. The last activity done that first day was nightline. This was done in the forest where we followed a rope while blindfolded. Our first day at Carlingford was so much fun!

On Tuesday the 6th, we were woken up at 8 o'clock for breakfast. We then began our first activity of the day, which was single boat kayaking. At first i was nervous to be in a boat by myself but it was easier than expected. We even got to jump off the water trampoline, which was my favourite part. Our last activity of our trip to Carlingford was laser tag. This was by far my favourite activity. We each were given camouflage and a gun. We were then released into an area set up in the forest. We played for hours and i wasnt bored of it once!

We then left Carlingford that day at 5 o'clock. I was sad to leave and i would have loved to stay one more night. This trip brought us closer as a year, and i really look forward to our next trip.

RESULTSS!!

The wait for the Junior Cert results finally ended Wednesday 10th September. I was so nervous on the day. Each student who had just done the JC came to the school at 12pm to collect the anticipated results. I was so scared when I was handed my envelope, I didnt even want to open it! But when i did i was so happy! I got all honors and even got an A in maths (which I did not expect at all.)

That night me and most of the year went out to celebrate, and it was such a fun night! The Junior Cert is now completely behind us now, with the leaving cert just a few years down the road.

Talk to you guys soon!

Friday 5 September 2014

My first week of TY is coming to an end. Its been an eventful week of meeting all our teachers and getting to know my new class, Aurora. On Wednesday we had a workshop day. The day consisted of 3 workshops. The first one was on First Aid. We learned all about CPR, and about health and safety. It was very interesting and we all learned a lot.

The second workshop was given to us by a beauty company called BK InniU. This was my favourite one out of them all. The two women who spoke to us were lovely. We talked all about personal hygene, and how to present ourselves. We even walked on a red carpet in our high heals!

The final workshop of the day was Positive Parties. This was all about having a good attitude and about keeping happy. The woman in charge of Positive Parties was so funny and she played games with us. It really was a party with sweets and music!

Overall it was a great day, and i really look forward to the next workshop day!
