Xtreeeeeme

On wednesday we went to Xtreme Adventure Center in Swords. This was my favourite trip so far. When we got there we were divided into groups. The first thing my group did was archery. Then we did the obstical course on the highest ropes. I had so much fun but anyone who doesnt like heights would not have had fun! After that we went over to this really high platform, where we were connected to a rope and had to jump of the edge. It was so much fun I want to do it again.
This was my last trip of TY and it went off on a really good note!!!!

Retreat

Last wednesday we went on a retreat to Maynooth College. Each year we take time out and go on a trip to reflect on ourselves and on each other. We played games and talked about different situations and how we would deal with them. one of the games we played was where a few dentists had to pull the "teeth" out of the circle, while we tried to remain as strong to each other as possible. I really enjoyed this retreat as a year group.

Busy week

This week has been a busy week in TY. On Monday we went with the minor hockey team to support them for their final. Sadly they lost but they did really well to get so far.
On Tuesday we went to Vue in Liffey Valley for a history retreat. We went to see the movie Selma. It was about Martin Luther King and his battle for civil rights for The black people in america. I really enjoyed the movie and learned a lot.
As usual on Wednesday we had work experience. On Thrusday my class, aurora, had a percussion workshop. We spent the day learning how to play african tribal drums and about Africa in general.
Today is friday and it is Lá Glas. Everyone in school is wearing their own clothes and a lot of people dresses up in green or in irish costumes.
This week has been a very busy week with somethinh happening each day. I enjoyed this week and hope we get a lot more weeks like this.

Lights, Camera, Action

For the past few weeks we have been working on dramas in English. Our whole year divided into groups. I was in a group with 7 other girls in my class. We came up with a drama inspired by the movie Safe Haven. The plot is about an abusive relationship and how she tries to escape her husband in the hope of a better life. We called it Behind Closed Doors.
On Wednesday 28th January we all went to Mullingar Arts Center to perform our plays for a judge in a competition. Our performance went well but there were a few mistakes, like a glass smashing when it fell on the ground.
I really enjoyed doing plays as part of our TY english course.

Work Experience #2

This week on Wednesday 7th January 2015, i started my second work experience. It was at my old primary school Scoil Naomh Bríd. I started at 9:10 and finished at 2:50.
I spent the day helping a teacher, Mrs. Brady, with her junior infants class. I did jobs like help with their art projects and help to organise students into groups for activities. At the end of the day I then helped the teacher to plan the the next day and to clean up the classroom.
I really enjoyed working in a primary school class and i think i would really like to be a primary school teacher in the future.

Holly Days Appeal and Road Safety

On Wednesday 10th December all TYs went into town to sell Holly to raise money for the ISPCC. We were all given a box of holly and an ISPCC volunteer vest. We were divided up and given a spot to sell at. We sold for about 2 hours and then went to McDonalds for Lunch. It was freezing cold but im glad we could help raise money for the ISPCC.
On Thursday 11th December, we went to Punchestown for a talk on road safety. Loads of schools from lots of counties were there. When we first got there we walked around the exhibition learning about road safety. All schools were then seated and the talk began. It went on for 2 hours and there were a lot of guest speakers who have experienced loss because of road accidents. I learned a lot.
